Why the weekday changes every year

Christmas has a fixed date, unlike Easter. Because a normal year is 52 weeks and 1 day, Christmas moves one weekday later each year, and two after a leap day. That is why it jumps from Saturday in 2027 to Monday in 2028. Orthodox churches that follow the Julian calendar celebrate Christmas on 7 January.
